The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is an application protocol for communication between Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and a central management system, also known as a charging station network.
The protocol is an initiative of the ELaadNL foundation in the Netherlands. Its aim was to create an open application protocol which allows EV charging stations and
central management systems from different vendors to communicate with each other. It is in use by a large number of vendors of EV charging stations and central management systems
all over the world.
Do you know how to find the right OCPP provider to start selling the green energy you produce through e.g. your photovoltaic plant
through an appropriate billing system? No problem. SMART cs is ready to help. We have the market overview and are happy to help you to distinguish the best solution for your
needs.
Two main payment systems
1. Through a QR code attached to the EV Wallbox or Charging station the customer has to realize a web browser-based registration
via a mobile device and is able to pay directly by credit card. The advantage: The QR code system enables ad-hoc charging for everyone, even if the customer is not a charge card holder;
thus also interesting for foreigners who are in transit, provided they
are informed about the existence of this charging point.
2. Some manufacturers of EV wallboxes or charging stations like e.g. Mennekes offer OCPP based rates in form of a roaming system currently including almost 20 charging infrastructure providers from Germany such as ENBW, Maingau Energie and many others.
The composition of the charging infrastructure providers can change over time.
Mennekes asks for a one-time setup fee per charging station as well as for a monthly fee for each single charging point (not per charging station!). In order to make use of the roaming option with
a combined tariff system the customer has to be in possession of a RFID loading card of one of the charging infrastructure providers which have alredy joined the Mennekes
tariff and billing system.
It is our strength to keep the overview when things are getting complicated.
With our large portfolio of solutions, we are sure to satisfy your needs.
